2024 Alternate Tour Routes if There is a Delayed Opening of the Going-to-the-Sun Road

East Side Crown of the Continent Tour – Alternate Three Valley Tour

These tours will operate as the Three Valley Tour at the scheduled times from Many Glacier Hotel and Swiftcurrent Motor Inn. The tour will travel along the east side of Glacier National Park to pick up additional guests at St. Mary Lodge and Rising Sun Motor Inn. The Tour will then head up Going-to-the-Sun Road for as far as we are allowed (typically Jackson Glacier Overlook, only a few miles from the top of the road at Logan Pass). The bus will turn around and proceed back down to East Glacier for an optional lunch* at the historic Glacier Park Lodge. After lunch the tour will go into Glacier’s “Secret Valley” of Two Medicine before returning to St Mary, Rising Sun, Swiftcurrent and Many Glacier. We call it the Three Valley Tour because we get to visit all three glacially formed valleys on the east side of Glacier National Park. This alternate route is offered at the same price as the Eastern Crown of the Continent Tour. *Please note that lunch at Glacier Park Lodge is not included in the price of the tour, but there will be time for a break and lunch may be purchased at the property.

Big Sky Circle Tour – Alternate Three Valley Tour

These tours begin at Glacier Park Lodge and will start by visiting Glacier’s “Secret Valley” of Two Medicine. The Tour will then head up Going-to-the-Sun Road for as far as we are allowed (typically Jackson Glacier Overlook, only a few miles from the top of the road at Logan Pass). The bus will turn around and proceed back down and travel along the east side of Glacier National Park and stop at Many Glacier Hotel for an optional lunch*. After lunch the tour will return to Glacier Park Lodge in East Glacier. This alternate route is offered at the same price as the Big Sky Circle Tour. *Please note that lunch at Many Glacier Hotel is not included in the price of the tour, but there will be time for a break and lunch may be purchased at the property.

Eastern Alpine Tour – Alternate Route

These tour will have the same route as scheduled only we will not be able to make it all the way to Logan Pass. The tour will travel up Going-to-the-Sun Road for as far as we are allowed (typically Jackson Glacier Overlook, only a few miles from the top of the road at Logan Pass). This alternate route will have more time to make additional stops along the route to view and enjoy Glacier National Park. This alternate route is offered at the same price as the standard Eastern Alpine Tour.

West Side Crown of the Continent Tour – Alternate Route

The tour will leave West Glacier KOA, Apgar Visitor Center, Village Inn and Lake McDonald as scheduled and then travel along Hwy 2 to East Glacier with stops along the way. After a lunch* stop at the historic Glacier Park Lodge, the tour will continue to Glacier’s “Secret Valley” of Two Medicine with views of Rising Wolf Mountain and potential wildlife. On the way back to the west side, the tour will stop at the famous Goat Lick with a good chance to see some of Glacier’s iconic Mountain Goats at the natural salt lick in the mountains. This alternate route is offered at the same price as the standard Western Crown of the Continent Tour.

*Please note that lunch at Glacier Park Lodge is not included in the price of the tour, but there will be time for a break and lunch may be purchased at the property.

West Side Western Alpine Tour – Alternate Route

This tour will make the scheduled start times at Apgar Visitor Center, Village Inn and Lake McDonald before heading up as far as we are allowed to go on Going-to-the-Sun Road. The tour will then head back down and continue up the Camas Creek Road with excellent viewing opportunities and a great way to experience the forest fires of 2003 and 2018 and the regrowth of the forest in various stages since both fires. There is also an opportunity to get out and take an optional short walk on a few of the trails along the way. This alternate route is offered at the same price as the standard Eastern Alpine Tour.

Morning Mountain Majesty Tour – Alternate Western Alpine Tour

This tour will change into the alternate route of the Western Alpine Tour listed above. These tours will keep the same departure times. The Apgar Visitor Center scheduled pick up will be at 8:00am. The Lake McDonald scheduled pickup will be at 8:30am. This alternate tour is offered at the price of the Western Alpine Tour. Guests originally reserved for the Mountain Majesty Tour will receive a refund to the credit card on file. Refund amount varies based upon tour price and pickup point.
